How do I set up Readylert for the first time?
After signing up, you'll land on your dashboard. The only thing you need to do before your first service is print your QR code — go to the QR Code page in the sidebar and hit Print. Place the printout on your counter, and you're ready to take your first order. The whole setup takes under 5 minutes.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No app, no account, no sign-up. Your customers open your QR code with their phone camera, which takes them directly to a web page that tracks their order. Nothing to install.
Can I use Readylert at multiple locations?
Yes. Each location needs its own Readylert account, and each account gets its own unique QR code. Multi-location accounts are supported on the Pro and Enterprise plans.
How do I add a new order?
On the dashboard, find the 'New Order' panel and type in the order number from your till. Hit Add Order (or press Enter). The customer scans your QR code, and their phone will start tracking that order number.
What do the timer colours mean?
Green (0–7 minutes): order is within expected wait time. Orange (7–15 minutes): getting long — consider communicating with the customer. Red (15+ minutes): the order needs attention. Timers start from the moment the order was created on the dashboard.
Can multiple staff use the dashboard at the same time?
Yes. You can have the dashboard open on as many devices as you like — tablets, phones, desktop computers. All devices see the same live order list and can mark orders ready.
How quickly does the customer get notified?
Typically within 2–3 seconds. The customer's page polls our servers every 2–3 seconds. The moment you click Mark Ready, the next poll delivers the full-screen alert. If the customer has enabled browser notifications, the alert arrives even if they close the tab.
What if the customer closes their browser tab?
If the customer has granted notification permission, we send a web push notification to their device — this works even with the browser closed on Android, and on iOS 16.4+ (Safari only). If they haven't granted permission, the alert will display when they re-open the page.
Does the alert work on iPhone?
Yes. The web page and full-screen alert work on all iPhones with any modern browser. Web push notifications (background alerts) require iOS 16.4 or later, with Safari set as the default browser. Sound plays on all devices — make sure the phone isn't on silent.
Does the free trial require a credit card?
Yes. We require a card to start your trial, but we won't charge you anything during the 14 days. If you decide Readylert isn't for you, cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
Can I change my plan at any time?
Yes. Go to Subscription in your sidebar. You can upgrade immediately (prorated) or downgrade at the end of your current billing period.
The QR code isn't scanning — what do I do?
First, make sure the printed QR code is clean, flat, and well-lit. If scanning from a screen, increase brightness. If the issue persists, go to the QR Code page on your dashboard and reprint — the code itself never changes, but a fresh print may have better contrast.
A customer says they didn't receive an alert — what happened?
The most common causes are: the customer closed the browser tab without granting push permissions, the device was on Do Not Disturb, or the order number entered doesn't match what the customer scanned. Check the Order History page to see the session status. If the issue persists, contact support.
